Slate colored junco? Maybe? But definitely on a fruitless plumb tree. But don't tell the bird that because it looks like there is plenty to eat from it.

If I could only get all the little ones that visit the neighbor's back yard to pose on that little twig. A great juncture of color and angles which also provide a nice bokeh due to distance from the tree.

Spring is in the air but there's still plenty of snow on the ground and though a few new arrivals are showing up at the feeders it's still mostly the usual supects, Chickadees and House Sparrows. I've got way too many Mountain Chickadee portraits but I decided to play around with different perches and looser framing for a different look and placed one of my favorite old snag perches out in the snow on the back porch with a plate of seed down in front of it. Didn't take long for the birds to find it and drop in for some photos like this Mountain Chickadee. I liked the way the afternoon light coming in from the left side of the frame hit the perch and the subject.
