Verreaux's Eagle Owl, previously called the Giant Eagle Owl, is the largest owl species in Africa. We spotted this one at dusk, perched far away in a tree during a 2019 safari in South Africa. This was the only time ever I was fortunate to spot one of these. They are unique in having those rosy pink eyelids.

If anyone has other images of this owl please feel free to add them.

Another great shot Rassie. I have a pretty ordinary shot of this unusual Owl. (You did ask for shots!) This one taken near Greenfire Game Lodge (West of Kruger)

Great image Rassie and I like the nesting bird too. My contribution dates back to 1992 taken at long range with an AF400 film camera, 500 f8 mirror lens and 2x converter. Posted for interest. We didn't see the other bird til the slides came back from Kodak!
