Thanks Ken, I think they are mostly seen in Florida and Texas and some other southeastern parts of the U.S.
My youngest son is getting married the day before US mothers day in northern Texas. I am arriving a few days early so that I can have a couple of days at Hagerman NWR to enjoy another painted and indigo bunting opportunity. The Painted buntings are in my opinion the most beautiful birds we have in the US. I have had the opportunity to shoot them in Texas and Florida several times and they never disappoint! t-minus 14 days and counting!

Go luck Kelly, I hope you get some great shots of them

Love the pics Ira! I went out a couple days ago to a spot called Pevato Woods Bird & Butterfly Sanctuary in Cameron, LA. It's a small patch of woods next to the Gulf of Mexico in the middle of the bird's migratory path. I was able to get several shots of the Painted Bunting including this one (my favorite thus far).
