When I saw this lovely picture, I realized I did not know the difference between the eastern and western meadowlark. Note yellow on western by lower mandible; no white streak.

Thank you for the terrific photo - it reminded me that there are more than one meadowlarks. In South America they are Red-breasted. (Except for the Eastern Meadowlark which is the only yellow-breasted one south of central Mexica and then only to the northern parts of South America). Here is a photo of a Long-tailed Meadowlark that was taken on West Point Island in the Falkland Islands. They are found in Southern South America and the Falkland Islands.
