Through the fog on a fine morning a few years back (2013). Shot taken from the road through Custer State Park. Nkon D600 with Nikkor 80-400 f/4.5-5/6 lens at 400mm. Processed in LR Classic. Revisiting a lot of my older work as a way to pass the time.

I think the mountain needs a bit more contrast and detail enhancement to bring out the figures. Currently the whites are all blown out and the mountain tips are barely visible. See if you like the edit below.

I see where you are going and like it. However, that is not what I "saw" when I snapped the shot. This is the approach in all of my posts here and elsewhere. If I were seeking to sell or otherwise promote this shot it would look more like your well executed edit. But for me, the emotions are captured through the fog. We had left the Mt. Rushmore park area shortly before this view and could not even see the faces from the park. This was a special moment. One of my quirks is that I edit for what I saw rather than what I think others want to see. I appreciate comments and recommendations as things to consider as I approach oricessing other photos and for the next time I shoot. Thank you.

I quite like the image as you saw it. Almost eerie the faces looking through the fog.
I might use a differrent word, but yes, that is the kind of feeling I had. That beautiful view right on the edge of visibility as compared to this shot from the Mt Rushmore site taken a little over an hour earlier.
