Congratulations. I bought one a while ago when they were finally back in stock last fall. I went back and forth about which way to go with attaching it to my ball head. I ended up getting the RRS lens collar and footplate package. I also added the Wimberley sidekick too. Enjoy your new lens, it's a lot of fun.

The 200-500 is good bang for your bucks. You made the right choice using the sidekick or similar as balancing on top of ball head is a pain unless subject is static.
