The 5 Spot Burnet is a day flying moth often seen among coastal grasslands and sand dunes over the whole of the British Isles. Its flight is slow and laborious and its bright red spots on a black background make it highly visible --- however these are warning insect colours to tell birds it is unpleasant to eat and so the caterpillars feeding on Birds Foot Trefoil suffer predation and parasitic wasp attacks, while those getting to the adult insect stage are largely untroubled. The Gobbins, country Antrim N.Ireland 19/06/20. D5 with 500mm PF, f5.6, ISO 360, 1/1000 Sec., handheld.

May I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy 2021.

Beautiful image David 👏👏, the Black and Red colours sit out really well against the pale blurred background.. the added information is always a nice bonus ....
