I picked up my copy today - and dressed it up for nothing (almost)
I will fine-tune the sections and cut them shorter if necessary - they overlap a tad now

Nice Elsa! Your order came with an extra!
haha - thank the pope for spare tops.
I think that is called a lens sleeve! Nicely done.

Yes! I couldnt think about the right word !
How do you like your 180-600mm? Mine is being delivered today (one day after the 600mm pf announcement) and I’m trying to decide whether to keep it or wait for the 600mm pf. I don’t have a “camera truck” like you!:)

I have taken VERY few photos with it so far - but my first impression was it locked on to subjects beautifully. The fact that it is shorter and have a wider field of view than my 800 - makes it a lot easier obviously.
Feels good in the hand on the Z8
(I havent tried it on the Z9 yet)

Tripod foot is stupid short.

That's being pretty resourceful. Well done.
Thanks Dan :)
Genuinely asking: What is the purpose of putting a lens sleeve (nice way to repurpose a wetsuit, btw!) on a lens?
Stevie - you better ask the guys than spend the big bucks on those lens Sleeves - They tell me it's to protect the lens 🤷‍♀️
What I can tell you - its bloody expensive to buy - especially if you have a couple of lenses. Hence the re-purpose of the top.
I have found in the bush - when it gets to 40 degrees - I want to cover my lens to protect it - it simply gets too hot. But I am not sure how this cover - black at that - will do that .... Normally I throw a towel of the lens

Nice work - will you be selling these any time soon?
😂 thanks

Stitching neoprene is specialised - I was lucky I didn't have to do any stitching on this one - but if I do any others - I will have to stitch to fit.
You cant simply stitch it on a normal sewing machine with a normal foot. Neoprene stretches just like leather stretched when stitched.
This means a special fitting for the sewing machine - but I will be looking into it. It may well be a very good idea since there is nothing available here in South Africa - only special imports.

Thanks Dan :)

Thanks, will see what others have to say, may ask in the other thread going on too.

It seems popular to put camo skins/covers/sleeves on and I assume that’s to purportedly help the equipment blend into the surroundings so as to potentially not alarm wildlife to its presence? Not sure how much that works but I’ve not done that level of photography so I can only take others words on that for now.

Regardless, that’s a great way to be resourceful with materials at a cost that works for you!

I think a discussion on the lens sleeves is a very good idea - I also want to know

Just to confirm there's just a cover for a single lens, yes?
