Few parrots, or birds, for that matter, are more beautiful the the Australian King Parrot. In this photo, I watching a few of these birds feeding on a berry bush when a male took off to fly across the field to another bush. The photo shows the stunning colors of this psittacine, with its red head, chest, and belly, green back, and bluish purple collar and rump. One also gets a glimpse of the lighter green wing bar on the green wings and of the black tail. Females are beautiful in their own right, but are not as colorful as the males.
