A fluffy-necked Striated Heron stalks its prey…

By heron standards, this predator of the intertidal zone is a stumpy little bird, but not so when it strikes out or takes flight.
It has a thick mane around its neck that ought to be the envy of any leader of the pride on the African savannah.
