I'm thinking of coming from the UK next April with the aim of photographing the night sky/milky way. My current thought is to spend 4 or 5 nights there around the new moon time. I was considering flying in and out of Phoenix (reasonably good fares from the UK) and spending a couple of days at the Grand Canyon as I've never been there. Other possible gateway airports are Las Vegas or Denver (the latter not good if I'm considering the Grand Canyon).
Any general thoughts or ideas that I should look to do things differently? I would be open to a day or two of wildlife photography but no real idea of where might be accessible.
