Today I went to the Snug River mouth, high tide so not much going on bird wise until this Native Hen popped its head above the grass on the waters edge with a mouth full of grass pieces.
Too much lens and had to just get the head and as much as possible of the rest of the bird.
In the distance I saw another Native Hen swimming across the river mouth with a similar lot of grass, it was too far away to make a good shot.
I decided to leave the car and walk towards the river mouth and wait.
Within 10 minutes another Native Hen took the plunge into the river and I got this result.
They may not be able to fly but they can swim really well.
