Came across the local short beaked(?snout) Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) 300 - 450mm busy looking for a feed.
They are not really dangerous but you could get pricked by the spines if you were silly enough to try to pick one up without adequate protection, not recommended.
Front end, short snout, difficult to see eyes.
Rear end, sharp!
