Well, I've come to accept the fact that I AM OLD - 74 and counting !! After 2 knee replacements and back surgery I have to start making adjustments to continue photographing.
I love my Sony GM 600 f4 and can still use it mounted to a mono or tripod, but I got my hands on the new 300 GM f2.8 and was anxious to try it with the 1.4 & 2 X TCs.
I spend the winters in SW Florida and will have plenty of opportunities to test out this lens combination. The weather hasn't been the best (cool & overcast) but I went out yesterday for a half hour and took some shots with only the TC 2x mounted on the 300. I was totally impressed with the performance and image quality. The Venice Rookery has been severely damaged by the last 2 hurricanes and the activity was very slow. I managed to get a nice image of a Great egret perched on a branch in some low light. Sadly I have to decide if I'm going to keep the 600 GM or keep it for occassional use.
