I am always hoping for a nice shot of an in flight Kestrel (especially a male) and if I were to get a shot like this, I would say, "That's it. I can't beat that!" What a super shot of a very hard to get subject.
 
Thanks Dave. I’m lucky in that we have a small group of raptors that hang out in the area during this time of year..... various hawks and falcons. Probably due in part to a population of food.....rabbits, quail, etc. This kestrel was in a tree in my neighbor’s yard, and I was able to get a little closer than normal. It was actually shot from my driveway. Here he was just before launching.....
