What camera and lens were you using??
Used A1 with 70-200 f2.8 with 2x converter, shutter around 400, f8, ISO whatever was needed. :) I have a nice 90mm Sony Macro lens, but this particular place has a lot of birds and I can switch really fast to APSC if I spot an interesting bird, so I keep my options open. Use a monopod with a shooters yoke to keep things steady. P.S. Some were shot at f11. :)
