I posted a reflection photo of a Black-crowned Night Heron in another thread. Anjin San indicated there was a color variation between this heron in Colorado and the ones he sees in Florida. I thought I might find a photo that demonstrated different coloration but this particular heron and another at a different location look almost identical in terms of color. I've posted this photo of the same heron with its feathers slightly fluffed from the side giving a better view of its coloration. Anjin San can review this, but I'm guessing this just confirms the coloration is different between the two states (whether this same coloration is demonstrated by all Black-crowned Night Herons all over Colorado is unknown to me).
