Anybody used a Samyang 14mm on an FTZ

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I tried my 14mm Samyang on a very early (demo) Z7 and it did not work . Over the last two years the software has been updated ..anybody know if it will now work. Samyang 14mm manual with the chip.
Thanks in advance

On my Fuji cameras Samyang lenses and Nikon lenses on an adaptor won't work unless the camera is set to 'Shoot Without Lens' in the menu as there is no communication between the lens and camera. Has the Z7 got a similar setting?

There are chipped and unchipped versions of the manual focus Samyang lenses For F-mount.

Did not know that. I've only ever seen no chip lenses over here in the UK. Just done quick research and found reference to the 35mm f1.4 chipped being avaialble in Nikon and Canon mounts only, but I think this was a US source so maybe it is country dependent.

The focus peaking in the Fuji is excellent and I can use manual focus lenses in manual or aperture priority AE, so I don't miss not having a chipped lens. Could be your only option might be to get a Nikon mount lens to bypass the adaptor.

Well I have an answer due to two americans who contacted me via UHH. It may work it may not . Rokinon 14mm has more chance than Samyang .It depends on age of lens ( chip version) and Z firmware. If it does not work the only sure way is to replace the chip with one from Andrey Kuryanov in the Ukraine ( input Nikon Dandelion chip into your ebay) He will send photos so you can see if you are up to it.
Also available intermittently via Nikongear.net.

I always thought that Rokinon and Samyang are identical lenses and the names are specific to countries/area for whatever reason.

Have you tried it recently on an F mount camera?

Bummer! Shame that the customer services are poor while the lenses seem to be good.

At least you got a reply. I bought a Godox flashgun for my Fuji and had a query regarding the fit in the hotshoe. Emailed them via their website and have yet to receive a reply. I sent my enquiry 2 years ago next month.

I think that the UK importer is Intro 2020. Worth asking them?

They also have an ebay shop where they sell ex-demo, refurbished or end of line stock

Personally Iknow the answer, If I was buying new then Rokinon would be the best buy giving the best chance of working out the box but as mine is 3+ years old I have to try it and if it does not work replace the chip.

I had the same experience with a Samyang 14 with the chip when I got the Z7 couple of years ago, there is just one work around, use a small piece of ahdesive tape to cover the contacts, obviously you lose the lens efix data.
