Anyone use a Tamron 15-30 G2 or a Tamron 24-70 2.8 G2

I currently looking to purchase these two lenses for a Nikon D850 I picked up. I have heard good things about the 15-30 G2 and so so things with the 24-70 G2. I head the 24-70 G2 doesn't have reliable AF and it misses a lot. A couple of reviews on Amazon and comments on Youtube have suggested they had to use the TAP in the console to fine-tune the lens and after a couple of hours then it would be right. I have to pick up these lenses used as I can't afford the new price. Anyone use these lenses with good results and would you recommend them? Thanks

A while back I traded in my 24-120 f4 toward the purchase of a Tamron 24-70 G2. I may have gotten a bad copy because it wasn't as sharp as the lens I had traded in. I wound up returning it and bought another used 24-120 f4. I also tested the 15-30 G2 on my D810 at my local camera store. It wasn't as sharp as the Nikon 14-24, so I would up buying the Nikon. I am in no way bashing Tamron, I just think I was unlucky. I've read many good things about those two lenses. I may have been able to correct the sharpness issue with the TAP console, but didn't want to have to do that. Again, I have nothing against Tamron, my sharpest closeup bird picture form 2018 was with my wife's Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2.

I have the 24-70 g2 and my copy is excellent on both D810 and D500. I do have -3 AFFT on my D500 if my memory is correct. It was back focusing just a hair. D810 was spot on out of the box.

I have the Tamron 14-70 G2 and the 70-200 and am getting the 15-30 very soon. I love the 2 Tamron's I have no issues with either excellent quality and performance. A lot of people turn their noses up at third party lenses I guess if they cost as much as the first party the may feel different. Who knows if I had the bucks I might feel different. Go for purchase. I use mine on a D810 and the image quality is not great it's fantastic.

I have two tam 100-400 and the quality is excellent BUT you must use the Dock as at 400 one is about +10 and the other -8. At the very least do the FFA at 400mm If you have the dock you can get all the figured easy in 15 min using the auto fine tune on N850/500/7500. Once you have the figures from your D850 they hold good on all Nikons. The variations are in the lenses not in the mounts

I owned both the Tamron 15-30 and 24-70 2.8 and found both to be excellent lenses being very sharp. Then I purchased a Z6 and discovered how much smaller and lighter the 14-30 and 24-70 S lenses were although at F4. I sold the two Tamron lenses as they are so much bigger and heavier which was a real downside for me for travel photography. I'm loving all the new amazing Z mount glass.
