Head on close up of an August Thorn (Ennomos quercinaria) moth caught in my Skinner Moth Trap a couple of nights ago and photographed the following morning before being released.
I did try a group of images with the intention of focus stacking but it didn't work as there was a breeze and the moth was clinging on while being battered by the breeze so the movement spoiled things.
I say it's an August Thorn as that's what I get as an ID from a Moth Book and the LEP app but if any lepidopterists out there can put me right then I am more than happy to be corrected.
