When it states 50 times the focal length for distance. Is it the actual focal length of the lens or is it the crop factor focal length when calibrating your lens?
Actual focal length. And it's not critical either. It can be from 25-50X, ideally close to the range you typically shoot the lens (if there is such a thing). Here's a chart from my AF book that can serve as a shortcut
