A friend & I chartered a boat to see the eagles feasting on the annual hake run. It was amazing to see a couple hundred eagles congregated in a small area catching hakes! I tried using auto area with 3D tracking but with so many eagles, the camera couldn't keep up. In fact I had hard time trying to figure out which eagle to track. A moving boat in the tidal rapid also posed a challenge to trying to photograph the eagles. I would definitely would like to go back next year to hopefully take better photos.
The eagles often feed while flying probably to avoid another eagle from taking it away. Also it allows them to go back fishing right away.
In the above photo you can see a small stunned hake on the surface that the eagle is going for.
