Bald Eagle harvesting nesting material

Hi Folks,
To my delight this majestic Eagle flew right at me and perched nearby.
The great bird was searching for the perfect branch to carry back to the nest.
Suddenly it flew upside down and snapped a branch from up above.
Nature is truly wondrous, never a dull moment.
Happy trails.

Great series Paul! I was surprised last spring when (at a greater distance) I saw an osprey do the same thing with a large branch. I guess I had always assumed they used dead fall that was already on the ground. After the bird pulled the branch off the tree and lugged it to the nest, there was a very vigorous and high pitched discussion about the best place to put it.

Many thanks Jim. Observing behavioral habits in animals is truly fascinating. Happy trails.
