Spotted this guy while driving home from a marsh and lake, part of the 'Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network' where I saw nada this morning (it's late in the season here but I'm an optimist and was looking for owls ). He was very high up in a lone tree near a farmhouse right along the highway. He moved on as I was setting up my tripod, flying in the direction of the bird reserve....

Beautiful capture, I will never tire of seeing Bald Eagles even if only in images.
Thanks. Yup, amazing bird; friend was cleaning fish by a lake (Northern Ontario) and throwing the guts into the water (so to not have bear bait near our campsite) and a bald eagle swopped down and picked the guts out of the water before they'd sunk very far, a VERY short distance from her. The rest of the guts she left on the beach and then sat and watched a pair of eagles drop in and feast on 'em.

Nice Classic pose... Beautiful
Yup, spotted him and immediately there was a place to pull over on a country road with no shoulders and ditches, so luck. Jumped out of the car grabbed the cam and pointed it to see if it was even going to be worth shooting him, distance wise (he was very high up) and where I should best position myself, etc... This was the third shot of three rapid test shots and on this one he turned his head, likely to check me out.... Thought I'd move down and across the road a bit so I was shooting toward him and try to get him when he took off. Grabbed my tripod and he was gone....

Beautiful bird! Great light.

Never tire of these iconic raptors Steven, would revisit the vignetting here that is our beloved 180-400's only weakness (most noticeable on FX)

TFS
Thanks. I'm sloppy in post, obviously! I went in and cleaned up the vignetting and the sky colour. Thanks for the 'boost'.
