At work we have built a tower specifically for the barn owls, this year they laid 3 eggs with all 3 chicks successfully reared, its been fantastic watching them hunting, and now the owlets are close to fledging watching them being fed
Picture taken of the owlets from a hide with Z9 & 800mm lens so no disturbance caused enabling natural behaviour!

That is a great setup that was created. It provides an exercise platform for the chicks to build up their wind strength while providing you with a great photo opportunity.

Most barn owl boxes used in the states lack a exercise platform and many more chicks die as a result. If they fall to the ground there is no way to get them back up in the nest and if a house cat comes by the chick is not going to survive.
