This was before I read Steve's advice on shutter speeds required for flying birds. On a South African safari last year we watched this Bateleur Eagle watching us. While I was photographing it another vehicle approached and the bird decided to take off. I just managed to zoom out a little bit to accommodate the spread wings but there awas no time to increase shutter speed. Background light is ugly because it was a dreary, overcast cloudy day.
