It looks as if it is made of leather with very neat stitching!
If you set the interval time to say 1 second, and the dof and width of the stack appropriately, you can work with around 10 to 12 seconds for a shot like this. Not all subjects will stay still that long.How long did it take to do the whole focus stack set? The beetle looks absolutely still.
