in an activity we usually only see in the Spring. I assume the one is on the Southern migration and the other was protecting his territory. Taken in Virginia, USA from a kayak.

Would you believe we actually have a vagrant Belted Kingfisher very near me on the River Ribble, Lancashire in the UK at the moment, it is thought it was blown across the Atlantic by recent storms.

Haven’t managed to catch up with it yet as its been a little elusive and distant. Its certainly caused a stir among local and national birders.
