We came across an area near Bolivar Flats along the TX coast where Kingfishers were fishing some inland ponds. It was along a 2-lane country highway so we just pulled off the road & watched. Unfortunately, the ponds were on the opposite side and not visible.

Awesome series Phil! 👍👍👍👍I am very jealous. How far away were you and what lens did you use?

Thanks Ralph.
It was the Nikon 600 F4E (latest version) with a 2xTC. We were probably within about 50 feet, shooting from the vehicle window. In my experience, these guys bolt when a human is anywhere remotely close so we knew it was a special opportunity.

It certainly was. During the month of October I setup a hide several times and the best I could do was about 75ft with my 500. And when she was fishing she was more than 100ft away. I got some really nice shots but yours are great. Nice going. 👍

Stunning series of images.

Stunning series of images.

Thank you Gordon.

You did well, Phil. I love the shaking shots. Something a little different.

I appreciate the kind words Dan. These guys are typically skittish (at least on our area) that it's difficult to get anything more than a distant shot.

Number 1 is NUMBER ONE! Overall, fantastic shots.

Thank you Lisa. That was actually one of the 1st shots of the morning. It was an indicator for the day to come. :)

Great series, Phil!

Much appreciated, as always, Lance.
