Another shot from our 2013 Yellowstone trip. Late afternoon, pulling into the parking area at the Lake Lodge late afternoon. This beautiful animal was standing right next to the road ignoring everyone. There were people nearby on the trail from the lodge to the lake.
We stopped the car andI rolled down the window. The available camera was my D600 with the 50mm f/1.8D lens. Framed, focused and snapped. Roughly a 12mp crop to remove the visible road surface. We then parked some distance away!
Nikon D600, Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D lens, 1/60 sec @ f/11, ISO 400.

Beaut beast and scene, Joe!
Thank you. You will see a lot of Yellowstone photos on these forums. It is an otherwordly place - the surface of the Lake is 2357m (7700ft) above sea level and just stunning. You have equally exquisite sites where you are and it is great to see them shared In your photos. In 5 days we had everything from short sleeve shirt weather to snow and sub-freezing and loved it. Hope to get back in the coming year or two.

Joe, yes; you have a beautiful country, I traveled via Louis L'amour, Mark Twain and others through fast portions of it but the photographs are just wonderful. We live on the Highveld, about 1600 m average. The Lowveld is below 400 m and then we have the Drakensberg about 3000m - seldom that we get 4 seasons a day.

Here, the weather patterns are really weird, so bad that the phrase "Melbourne, 4 seasons in one day" is often bantered around and even songs written about it. :) :)
