Black bears love salmon just as much as their more popular, larger brown cousins. When boating this time of year we see a lot of them. Here are a few shots of opportunity over the past couple of weeks.

1) It's difficult to judge the size of black bears from a distance. One clue is the apparent size of their ears which tend to be in inverse proportion to the overall size of the bear. This is a little guy.

Those are awesome shots!!
Glad you enjoyed them.

Great set of images, Dan! That first one looks comical with those big ears! :)
Thanks, Karen. Yes they look pretty funny when they look straight at you with those ears.

Dan,
Good fun set and sequence

Thanks, Chris.

Great set Dan, and what a perfect setting to have found this guy in.
Thanks, Louie. Yeah I love finding them on rocks and/or the yellow seaweed.

Love it Dan.

We were in Juneau last week and didn't see a one. Lots of salmon though.
Glad you liked the post, Bill. They've got their share of bears down that way. Surprised you didn't see any.

So, so nice.
