Wow. It's really black 
Perhaps it’s under exposed. 
"black tern"... maybe a backlight photo. And we know that black taken in backlight, gives... black.

Help me guys/girls please - I don't know what I am doing wrong. I go to click my image and then the image just disappears after I attach it. It is in .jpg format??
As you can guess I am completely new to the forum!
Every time I try. - it says "Oops something went wrong"

Check image size per site guidelines. That has been my problem every time I have received that message (I think)
Resize the image to around 1200 pixels on the longest side and 900 kb file size. That should work.
