Blacksnake hunting Hummers..

Blacksnakes have a knack for climbing trees and eating young birds in nests or grabbing one at a popular feeding location. Our dogwood tree in Rappahannock County attracted many birds and on one occasion a blacksnake tried to snatch a hummer. Didn’t go well for the snake. The tiny birds harassed and pecked the snake repeatedly until he had enough and left. Quite a show!
