I missed the first one to leave in the afternoon. The last three refused to leave finally the parents gave up for the evening. Up at 5 am waiting, and waiting some more. The first one to leave I missed on the focus, the last two I did get a series using Pre release, and manual focus. I need to refine my technique. Two more Blue Birds are in the nest box, but it will be another 6 weeks, then it's all over in just a few minutes. That is provided I'm diligent enough to be there at the right time.

Did you use Auto Capture or PreCapture for these. Exciting to see them launch.
My final set up was to use PreCapture(1sec, 1sec), and manual focus. I pointed down manually focused on the pole just under the box using the OK button to zoom in. Saved the focus position (just in case). So my focus point should be at the center of the box. The problem being they don't fly straight. The best chance of getting an in focus shot is right out of the box. Sometimes that doesn't work out, with the previous batch the last three fell out of the box straight to the ground. Flying it seems wasn't an option. Not to worry the parents rounded everyone up, and with some encouragement they all got going. If not a bit wobbly. It was a bit humorous, dad was perched on top of the bird house watching as all three fell to the ground. I could just see the look of disgust in his expression.

I can relate and manual focus, guessing the plane, seems like a great choice. I know with my Auto Capture, bird blast offs are very hard to get.
