Unfortunately the lighting had a lot to do with it. I was exposed for tree swallows I was shooting and this guy just popped up out of nowhere as you can tell by the shutter speed.

Nice shot. Agree with Butlerkid, harsh background. Too bad the bird appears to be angle slightly away from you

It is slightly and also only 10-12' from the tree line. It's a pretty bird but the background definitely detracts from it.
