This is Bob…at least that is what a local up at Orlando Wetlands Preserve told me last week…crossing the road across the marsh. I didn't go close enough to measure him…but after he passed I did check and the road is about 15 feet wide there. Z7II, 70-200 Z at 160mm.

Lots of gators here in SC, a standard formula for estimating length is the distance from the tip of the snout to the eyes in inches, then convert that to feet for total length. "Eyes to nose, inches to feet."
Yep…seen that way of estimating before…but I wasn't going close enough to measure the inches. My guess is that it is in the 12-13 foot range based on the width of the road…I counted heel to toe steps on my hiking boots and multiplied by boot length. Having spent a lot of time in FL in college and winters living in the RV and not in a house…it's probably not the biggest one I've seen but it's up there.

LOL You are supposed to just estimate the inches. It's easier than trying to estimate the entire length. But, I would agree you are in the neighborhood of 12 feet.
