At sunrise this morning I found a mother bobcat with two kittens in the hills behind my condominium in the Tucson Mountains. I tried following them, but I only got one really good shot. It was this one of one of the two kittens when I first found them.

Great shot. I frequent an area that has bobcats, but they are so hard to find. In the six years that I have frequented this area, I have only seen a bobcat twice, and once it was well after dusk with no chance for a shot. How close were you to the bobcat? Ken

@FastGlassGuy For this shot I was not that close. It is about one hundred percent crop taken with a 600mm. However, I went around in the direction they were heading and ended up on the end of our condo parking lot and they were going up a very small side wash next to it. One of the kittens got close enough that I couldn't quite fit in the entire body (cut the feet off) with my 600mm. Unfortunately they kept moving and I lost them after that.

There used to be two adult females at another small nature area in Tucson who were used to people and would allow us to follow without running. Sadly, they have both died, the first one possibly and the second one almost certainly due to interference from a radio collaring project.
