At sunrise yesterday I found a female bobcat sitting on the edge of a pond. Then she caught a coot that went too close to the edge. She carried it off and through an opening in a fence, a very large opening cut by the city I think to allow bobcats and coyotes to pass through. Other side of the fence is a closed water treatment plant. She took it near a boarded up building at the plant where a kitten came out to finish the kill (it was still alive) and consume it. (I was on the other side of the fence and only had a limited area to shoot through due to a tree).

Interesting record of the Bobcat’s behaviour. It seems they (like cheetahs) bring live prey to their young for training. I didn’t know that. The third shot (The bobcat with the coot in it’s mouth) is a bit savage maybe but amazing.

Thanks to all. I went back that afternoon at sunset and found the mother across the street eating something (not sure what). I only found her because I heard crunching in the brush and I thought "that sounds like someone eating something." I went back this morning (two days after this sequence) and found mother and kitten again, though not as good photos as this sequence. I know where they hang out so I will keep trying (whenever I can get up early enough - I work late so it's a bit tough).

I returned a little while ago (Saturday morning) from my last visit to the area for this week. It was my fifth visit this week and I had seen the bobcats all four times until today, so I was hoping to end the week with a perfect record. Alas, my streak was broken as I had no sightings today.
