I'm still waiting (Belgium) on the TC 1.4 III, on order since June 2021.
Is this a world wide issue?
Stan, Who did you order it from? I had the same problem. Everywhere I looked it was on backorder including Nikon. So, I just decided to order it directly from Nikon and wait it out. This was at the end of September. In less than 2 weeks they shipped it. Received it on October 10.

Sorry to seem dismissive but it is likely to rely on TC2 II ie a wasted trial. TCE III is much improved, but it is still a fickle beast. There also seems to be copy variation, which may partly explain the polarized view on TCs.
IME, my copy is not up to my standards on the 70-200 f2.8E, but it gives fairly good IQ in the right conditions - subject distance especially - on 300 f2.8E VR II; okay on 300 f4E PF (but in dire need only) but really good on the 400 f2.8E FL.

Well my bad, I looked again and have the TC2.0III its the TC1.7 thats the II version but they never made a III for that one!

I have a Z6ii with 200-500mm Nikkor F5.6 lens, will the TC1.4iii work on this combination for bird photography, i am aware that i will lose one F stop? if i go to TC20iii, am i heading for disaster?

I had the same question and found a review on Photography Life that shows the optical performance drops noticeably with the TC 1.4E III and TC 1.7E II, so we can assume the TC-20E III will lose a bit more acuity.

Beyond the sharpness loss, you'll also lose some AF speed and accuracy. Steve talks about this at about the 12:05 mark in this video:

With that in mind, I've decided against adding a TC to my 200-500mm. Maybe one day when I own the 500mm PF... 😃

I Made an order where i bought the 500mm pf. On the Nikon.be site not availble at this moment.

I've only had limited experience with TCs on a Z body to comment, but I have had a lot of experience using extension tubes on a Z6 and Z7. I find the much easier to use than on my F-mount bodies, and the results are much better--especially with the 50, f/1.8 S lens!

Hi Ronnie,

I use Z6II + 200-500 f5.6 + TC 1.4 Ver II.

As an amateur I am happy with the results.

You can have a look at one such photo I shot of a Purple Sunbird early this month:
