He was trying to get by me to enter the bushes & not wanting to put my head down near the ground in front of him I just lowered the camera and let the autofocus do it's magic. Most of the series found the nose if not the. eyes. . He was maybe a meter away and moving.

An old friend of mine Alan St.John, wrote the book - Reptiles of the Northwest. It's a very good one & all text, photographs, and drawings are his work. They are available on Amazon.
