Can live with just prime lens for place like Costa Rica?

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I was reading Costa Rica workshop webpage from Steve and he picked 300mm, 600mm and one macro. Is it easier to live with prime of these range, without zoom in the place like Costa Rica ?
Are most subjects, i.e. birds and other wildlife, can be shoot easily in this range ?
If there is something between 300 and 600 and over, it is manageable with cropping. But if there more chances to be under 300, then I may miss lot of shots.
What are you thoughts?

Thanks
