Pair of Caracara catching some early morning sunshine.
Happy trails.

Very nice, Paul!

During my week-long photo trip last year, the Crested Caracara was the one bird I sought, but failed to capture a photo of. Growing up, we called them Toupe' Birds.

Paul - very nice image. I did not know they were resident in Florida. it it a male and female or an adult and sub-adult? Cere color is different, or do they blush, like a secretary bird?

Many thanks Callie.
Male and Female Crested Caracaras are similar in appearance. Juveniles have a pale pink upper beak.
This happy couple were in the process of building a nest.
Most other Falcons lay their eggs in an old nest built by another species.
Caracaras are one of the few Falcons that actually collect materials to build their own nest.
Happy trails.
