Card readers…

Fed up with junk card readers. Wanted a Sony w/CFE type B + SD with USB type “C” connection. Apparently they don’t make one. Who likes what? Delkin has one on Amazon that “looks good” but what do you find is the best thing out there. 🤯Thanks for your input….

I have the Delkin card reader you mentioned. It works fine for me so I haven’t needed to try any others. “Best” is subjective anyway.

“Best“ in this case is “found to be consistently reliable”…. Tinkering with card readers to get them to “wake up” and get images transferred is not on my list of desirable features and not subjective. The Delkin reader has worked well for you and I’m thinking that might be the one to have..

I have two Delkin readers, one for CF Express B only and one for CF B and SD. Both have worked good for me, but the doors have broken off both. Crappy design, but still work fine.

I have the much larger Prograde B/XQD that I leave hooked up to my desktop and the other two are for travel.

I recently picked up a new Delkin USB4 Type B reader for a desktop replacement. I states speeds up to 40G, but I have not tried it yet. While I can't speak to the new one yet, I think it might be one to look at if you are interested in faster speeds.

For size comparison. Delkin USB4, Delkin 3.2, Prograde PG04.

No upload issues, freezes, or stuck cards. It gets a bit warm when transferring from CFe cards but it’s sitting on my desk, so no problem.

I understand you. I've returned a few junk readers, too.

I'm currently using an RW520 Lexar reader. It's unfortunately made in China (the original US brand has been bought by Longsys a few years ago), but it works very well for both CFexpress type B and UHS-II SD cards. The transfer rate is faster than other readers I've used before. It's nice and stands on a rubber base. Very happy with it.

It's an USB-C interface, but too (very) short cables are provided for USB C and B.
