Really nice Jose,…. I always like including the surroundings to make the image more than a field guide shot…
These are great Jeff! Cardinals in the snow are a winner in winter! Well done! I might have something similar…A couple I shot last winter. The male landed on a branch during a heavy snowfall. A few seconds later his lady friend showed up. The snow was beautiful that morning (cold and wet but beautiful).

Thank you. If you have similar, put them up. Can't have too many cardinals during these gray days of winter. These are great Jeff! Cardinals in the snow are a winner in winter! Well done! I might have something similar…
Wow! These are great! The “mossy bark” shot is especially nice.I have way too many photos of these birds! They're abundant and super easy to photograph so I have lots to choose from.
Northern Cardinal on a piece of mossy bark I set up next to my feeding station:

Beautiful images Joe. The last one has a color variation I’ve never seen. I like including habitat as you did with these..
Thankl you. Both shots from my backyard in the bushes near our feeders.Beautiful images Joe. The last one has a color variation I’ve never seen. I like including habitat as you did with these..
out in the wild, they tend to nest in underbrush and understory vegetation typically at the edges of woods and field. The spruce bush probably looked like the perfect home to them. Out in a wild setting they would have made a nest in a similar location. Cardinals are amazing and have adapted very well to humans. The cardinals are seen more frequently here than other species. And they seem to nest in odd places like this spruce bush on our sidewalk. Seeing them come & go we were curious and found a clutch of eggs. Then hatchlings and a youngster. Care was taken not to disturb nest….iPhone pics only.
