This young fella paid us a visit a few weeks ago. I think he found a buffet in my wife’s feeders. Sad, but it happens. He stopped long enough for me to capture this quite rushed. Please ignore the backyard neighbors windows

Nice young Cooper's Hawk. Seems cruel but over 70% of Raptors don't survive their first year, many die of starvation in that first year.
Agree, exactly what I told my wife. She was not happy when it happened but has now accepted it. It does show up now and again but haven’t seen him get lucky. Honestly he’s a clumsy hunter being so young
 
we have a couple Cooper's in our neighborhood that grab doves around our feeder from time to time. I say "we feed the doves, the doves feed the hawks". Bottom line, the hawk has to eat the same as the song birds. It all works out in the end.
