Knew this guy was someone in a line of trees across the pond I was at. Saw a couple people walking a dog go right underneath him and he didn't move. So I decided to drive to the other side, park and start walking. I came around the corner and there he was, just sitting there looking out over the water.

This is just cropped for better composition but pretty much took up the whole frame.

Wonderful Shot! Congratulations and Well done👍👍👍

Nailed it. You mentioned he pretty much filled the frame at 800mm. I shoot a 500PF with a smaller teleconverter which sometimes is too much. I've gotten pretty good at getting the teleconverter off quickly when the subject cooperates. Not always, but an option to keep in mind. Great shot.

Good idea. It didn't even dawn on me to drop the TC. I could have done that on the walk out there before we came around the corner to see him just sitting there. Especially knowing ahead of time that if he was still there, I'd be so close. Next time :)

Don’t forget the 2x TC costs you 2 stops too.
