Common brushtail possum, Trichosurus vulpecula - I think.
On out last visit to OZ I really wanted to see some of their nocturnal wildlife and found this guy just after dark as he was peeping out of his den in a local park in Gold Coast, QLD.

Nice shot! This one doesn't look very much like the North American Opossum ( Didelphis virginiana ). One thing they have in common is that both are marsupials, and more or less similar size.

Dependent on where you are, size ranges from ~320 – 580mm with a tail ~240 – 400mm long and weigh ~1.2 - 4.5 kg.

The Brush Tails I have seen in Adelaide, South Australia were much lighter in colour as well as being quite a bit smaller than here in Tasmania.

The Brush Tails frequent the fences around the yard most nights, along with the Ring Tails.

You can also get a glimpse of them during the day, just over the back fence at 09:19.
