This beauty is a mature Cooper's hawk. There was a "circle of life" thing going on here. The hawk had just nailed a downy woodpecker and was finishing it off in this photo. Fortunately, the "blood and gore" are hidden in the leaves. It was obvious it was a downy when it flew away. Unfortunately my photo was so out of focus and so much motion blur it is not post-worthy.
