D500 battery grip issue

Hey, everyone. Maybe I am just an idiot, very possible, but out of the blue my battery grip buttons have stopped working. The grip still functions to provide power, but I can no longer use the buttons for focus, shutter, or moving the focus point. I checked the menu for the grip and it is still set to "same as camera"... I'm not sure if there is something else in the menu that controls the settings, or if something is wrong with the grip. Its never been dropped or anything, so it seems weird that it just stopped working... Any ideas?... And, if not, is that an item that can, generally, be repaired?

I have the battery grip but haven't encountered this issue. If I did, I'd turn everything off, remove the grip from the camera, remove all the batteries from each of them. Recharge the batteries, clean all contacts connecting them, and put all back together and try again.

If it still won't work, it's time to explore where the problem originates. Do you know anyone nearby with the same gear?

Thanks for the idea. I gave it a try, and also did a reset to factory settings on the camera body, and its working!
