D6 Power Problem

Currently I use the D850 D5 and D6 Bodies and I have most of the big Primes also. When I first got the D6 I was blown away with it as I usually am when a new D comes out. I got the 6 the day it was released and it performed great on my arsenal of lens mainly my 600 f4 it was killing it. I recently got a 800 5.6 and 180-400 f4 and I noticed on the first day a drop in frame rate as I stepped down the 800mm It will fire on 5.6 and 7.1 with the converter wide open, but as soon as I step it down each f stop it dies on the frame rate. I contacted NPS and have been getting the run around. It doesn't happen with the D5 and D850 even the Z bodies that I have. They told me that it needed to be sent in!!! I have done my research and tested it on a friends 800mm and also found another D6 to test on both of our lenses. Same result It seems to me like the d850 when it was launched that the power is sub par, a new battery or a flaw in the design. The D6 has a new Gps new processor and new AF system, and when any outside power is needed like the electronic diaphragm on the larger 800mm and even the VR engaged on the 180-400 the frame rate decreases drastically. Made some more inquiries to a friend in the Uk who is a Nikon Ambassador and they did some research across the pond and they have found the same issue. Although NPS in NYC won't admit it to me that I may have found a glitch.
Thought I would see if anyone here has the issue or has heard anything? I love my Nikon gear and have been loyal for over 30 years but I just wish they would be up front and not try and screw with me after the 100's of thousands of gear that I have purchased through the years.

I don't think they are screwing with you. There is a good chance this could be a new problem they are still trying to figure out. From and Engineer stand point you can test hundreds of configurations and work thru the bugs but you never seem to get them all. Why do you thing software company's send out updates it's the same thing.
The gear I have had to send in to Nikon severe have been taken care of to my satisfaction.
Whats he problem with send it in if you have spent 100 of thousands you must surely have some other gear you can use for a few weeks.

I hear ya on the send it in option but that wasn’t quite the way it went down the two weeks of them denying that it was and issue and it just may be that I have found out why. And the facts that I found out that it was happening in other situations I don’t feel I need to send it in til they figure out how they are going to fix it. I don’t want my camera to be the test dummy I figure they can figure that out and will release a new solution. I just don’t see why they were running me around they say that they have the same set up and it wasn’t doing it on theirs but so far I have proven that false. I just don’t like getting blown off and they act like I don’t know what’s going on. And I would rather not send my gear to them I bought the d6 to use it and yes I can use the 5 but why it’s brand new I expect at this point for a flagship camera it should be perfect.

I totally agree with you 168wildlife. I had an issue with one of my lenses and described it to there customer service in detail. Their standard answer was to send it in. It was a brand new lens and they supplied no explanation at all as to what the problem could be. I emailed the same explanation to Steve and he solved my problem . The lens was fine. It was working as designed. I misinterpreted how it was suppose to function. Now why can Steve solve my problem but yet the company that designed and sells the product can’t. What good is customer service if they can’t give you an informed , intelligent answer.

You have VR set to normal. Switch to VR sport.
